Nepal - Upper-Mustang Trekking Tour

Nepal: Trekking & Meditation and Culture in Upper Mustang

Deep into the Himalayas - North of Dhaulagiri- and Annapurna Range! (21 days)

North-Central Nepal, in a high desert region, north of the massive Dhaulagiri- and  Annapurna mountain range and close to the Tibetan border, that's where the partly independent kingdom Mustang is located. The visitor numbers of these "Restricted Area" are limited and that creates and allows a tourist environment  without destroying the culture. An ideal environment to practice meditation and insight with like-minded people.

The beauty and wilderness of this landscape is breathtaking in its true sense, and can hardly be described. The new dimensions of vast canyons, desert, high mountains and rock formations leave us speechless.
After we got to know the capital Kathmandu and have reached Pokhara, on the beautiful Fewa lake, we will fly to Jomsom, right into the Himalayas. We start walking along scraggy valleys and cliffy mountains. But that's exactly what makes these landscape so special up here. On our way to the to Lo Manthang, the destrict capital of Upper Mustang and just 20km to the Tibetan border, there is always enough time to let the atmosphere sink in.

We are going to visit Buddhist monasteries and participate in a local ceremony (Puja). This will give us an understanding of the Buddhist way of living and a deeper appreciation of the people living in this part of the world. Every now and than splendid views on the Himalayas (himal=mountain; laya=snow) are opening to all sides. Optional these journey can be extended and "round-up" with a visit of the low-lands jungle in the  Chitwan National Park.
